Skupna obeležitev 100. obletnice koroškega plebiscita / Joint Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Carinthian Plebiscite

Na pobudo predsednikov Slovenije in Avstrije Boruta Pahorja in Alexandra van der Bellna je v Celovcu potekala uradna obeležitev stoletnice koroškega plebiscita. Predlog za tako obeležitev, ki je bila prva skupna v sto letih, je Borut Pahor avstrijskemu predsedniku predstavil ob uradnem obisku na Dunaju junija 2019, gostitelj pa jo je z veseljem sprejel. Na slovesnosti se je predsednik Van der Bellen v slovenskem jeziku slovenski manjšini opravičil za zamude pri izpolnjevanju obveznosti do slovenske manjšine, zapisanih v 7. členu Avstrijske državne pogodbe. Skupna obeležitev je močno okrepila sožitje med narodoma in državama v skupnem evropskem duhu.

At the initiative of the Presidents of Slovenia and Austria, Borut Pahor and Alexander Van der Bellen, an official commemoration of the centenary of the Carinthian plebiscite took place in Klagenfurt, Austria. The idea for such a commemoration, the first joint one in a century, was presented by Borut Pahor to the Austrian president during his official visit to Vienna in June 2019, and was well received by the host. During the ceremony, President Van der Bellen apologized to the Slovenian minority in the Slovenian language for the delay in fulfilling the obligations towards the Slovenian minority as stipulated in Article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty. The joint commemoration significantly strengthened the harmony between the two nations and countries in the common European spirit.
