Former President Pahor attends COP29 in Baku as a Member of the International Advisory Board for COP29 at NGIC
Bivši predsednik republike Pahor se je kot član Mednarodnega posvetovalnega odbora za COP29 pri NGIC udeležil letošnje podnebne konference ZN - COP29 v Bakuju, kjer se je zavzel za dogovor o financiranju, ki velja za ključen izziv letošnje konference.
Bivši predsednik republike Pahor ostaja zagovornik odgovorne podnebne politike. V času svojega predsedovanja je ustanovil in vodil Stalni posvetovalni odbor za podnebno politiko pri predsedniku republike in z njim oblikoval številna priporočila za odločevalce in javnost. Ob tem je pripravil več posvetov in dve nacionalni konferenci o podnebnih spremembah ter z njimi podpiral široko strokovno in argumentirano javno razpravo na področju okoljske in podnebne politike.
Pahor je skupaj s predsednikom UNGA Philemonom Yangom in generalnim direktorjem Svetovne zdravstvene organizacije Tedrosom Ghebreyesusom nastopil tudi na enem od panelov v okviru podnebne konference. V svojem nastopu je ocenil, da utegne priti zaradi kritik zelenega prehoda do spremembe vneme dinamike in strukture tega prehoda na Zahodu po volitvah v EU in ZDA.
Former President Borut Pahor participated in this year's UN Climate Conference – COP29 in Baku as a member of the International Advisory Board for COP29 at NGIC. He strongly advocated for a financing agreement, which is considered one of the key challenges of this year’s conference.
Pahor remains a dedicated advocate for responsible climate policies. During his presidency, he established and led the Permanent Consultative Committee on Climate Policy at the Office of the President, shaping numerous recommendations for policymakers and the public. He also organized several consultations and two national conferences on climate change, fostering a broad, expert-driven, and well-argued public debate on environmental and climate policy.
At COP29, Pahor joined UNGA President Philemon Yang and WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus in a panel discussion. In his remarks, he assessed that criticism of the green transition could alter its pace, dynamics, and structure in the West after the upcoming elections in the EU and the U.S.
