Borut Pahor receives Special Award at Mostar Peace Connection 2024 and advocates for faster EU enlargement
At the invitation of the Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, former President Borut Pahor attended a formal dinner and the “Mostar Peace Connection” award ceremony, where he received a special award for his dedication to peace, understanding, and coexistence.
The following morning, at the invitation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković, Pahor participated in the international conference “Mostar 2024: Dialogue for the Future”, also held in Mostar. The event marked the 20th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Old Bridge—a powerful symbol of reconciliation, international cooperation, and the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious communities.
Speaking on a panel, Pahor emphasized that, strategically, only a faster EU enlargement process can safeguard peace and security in the Western Balkans and across Europe. He stated: “This ‘slow motion’ must shift into high gear—immediately.”
On the sidelines of the event, Pahor also met with Borjana Krišto, Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
